Here's an excerpt from a story of a brave girl from Toledo, OH who was bullied and took action.
"Ruthanne Johnson is bright, cute and very funny, but her life was not a laughing matter a year ago. She struggled to fit in, and she was bullied.
Instead of being quiet about what happened to her, this Sunday she's sharing her story with the world, with the hope of helping other kids.
Ruthanne says she was bullied in elementary school all the way up to the 6th grade.
"I did have gestures made to me that I was fat, that I was ugly," she says. "Some instances where they were writing notes about me, but I couldn't do anything about it at the time."
Last year, the 12-year-old Toledo School for the Arts student decided to express her pain in a letter to Oprah."
Her parents, Ryan and Becky Johnson, had no clue that their daughter had contacted the star.
"We were just kind of surprised to get that phone call a year later," says Ryan.
They were shocked to learn that the producers of the OWN network wanted Ruthanne to be a part of an anti-bullying campaign.
Ruthanne spent two days in Boston shooting an anti-bullying episode for the network. During her time there, she even met her idol Lady
Gaga!"
